Basic Baking for Beginners

In this class we take it right back, to the very start. Why? Because if we learn how to perfect the basics of baking, taught by one of the best patisserie chefs in our region, then you’ll be off to a flying start. You will be in position to start building up, and escalating your culinary skill base. In this beginners class, Chef will teach you how create everyday baking recipes. You’ll be baking your own Scones, creating delicious pancakes / Crepes Suzettes, to baking some very moreish Fairy Cakes. You’ll then be taken through the process of creating mouth-watering butter creams. Lastly Chef will show you how to use simple, but very effective, ways to finish and garnish your creations.
You’ll be making, baking and creating. Baking is an art. It’s all about using precise ingredients – there is no guess work here. Chef will enlighten you about all the common baking mistakes. Once you know what not to do, you’ll be able to bake consistently well, with a confidence that will spur you on to be more creative with your own backing at home – for parties, family events and special occasions. At the end of this class, each participate will take home their very own box of assorted pastry delights, prepared and finished together with each other’s baking creations. Learning outcomes: How resting doughs and batters will enrich the final product How timing and time management is so essential in the production to bake consistently well Basic pipping skills and techniques enabling them to decorate with confidence How to finish and garnish the final creations.
